The Narex Richter Cryogenic Bevel Edge Chisels embody the highest standard of Czech toolmaking. Named after founder Vaclav Richter, each chisel is forged, machined and finished with precision to deliver exceptional balance, edge life and control. Designed for fine joinery, dovetails and detailed bench work, these chisels combine classic craftsmanship with advanced cryogenic treatment for unmatched performance.
Each blade is forged from high-quality Cr-V steel, hardened, cryogenically treated and tempered to at least 62 HRC. The cryogenic process cools the steel to −190°C, completing the transformation of austenite into martensite to increase both hardness and toughness. This results in a blade that holds a razor-sharp edge longer, resists wear and delivers clean, precise cuts across all timbers.
Finely ground and polished with ultra-thin side bevels, the blades allow easy access into tight dovetails and corners, while the flat backs simplify sharpening and honing. The handles are crafted from sanded and polished European ash hardwood, fitted with a solid stainless steel ferrule and leather washer for strength, shock absorption and comfort in use.
