Community Chest

At Brisbane Social Woodworking, we’re excited to introduce the "Community Chest"—an initiative providing affordable access to specialist woodworking tools. Funded by purchases within our community, it allows woodworkers to hire equipment at a fraction of the cost. This fosters collaboration and makes ambitious projects more accessible for all. By buying materials and tools, you’re contributing to a shared resource that strengthens Brisbane's woodworking community. Join us in making woodworking more accessible and enjoyable for everyone!

Community Chest FAQs

Where do I collect from?

All tools are currently held in Underwood. As the concept grows, we will be expanding to multiple sites around Brisbane but at this stage its all in Underwood.

Why is there a deposit?

The deposit is purely to help in case of damage. We know the deposit will not cover the cost of fixing the damage, but we did not want to limit people being able to use the tools by charging a large deposit. This will be refunded in full once the tool is returned.

Why does it cost $10?

The $10 covers the cost of running the rental portion of the website. The tech used to facilitate this costs, so we just aim to cover those costs. Anything above that will go back into upgrading the tools or purchasing new ones for the community.

Why can I only rent for 7 days?

We want to make sure everyone gets a chance to use the tools so we have limited rentals to a week. If you need it for longer, please get in touch with Bobby and we can work something out.
