Description
In Japanese, “Dozuki” translates to “tenon shoulder” and usually refers to saws with crosscut teeth. The Temple Tool Co. “Little Demon” Dozuki is different. Designed with a hybrid tooth configuration, it features a repeating pattern of crosscut teeth and the fierce rip-style “Oni-Ba” or “Demon tooth.” This combination makes it a true universal saw, capable of efficient crosscuts, rip cuts, and diagonal cuts.
The “Little Demon” name comes from the Oni masks worn by Samurai warriors to intimidate their enemies. Despite its fierce reputation, this saw is approachable and easy to use. Crosscut teeth at the heel make starting cuts smooth and controlled, while the Demon tooth—with its deep gullet—removes waste quickly for fast cutting in any direction.
With its compact 150mm SK85 tool steel blade, brass-backed rigidity, and brass hardware for simple blade changes, the “Little Demon” is an ideal choice for woodworkers seeking versatility in a small package. The Japanese Wingnut hardwood handle, finished in a dark brown stain and wrapped with rattan, offers both comfort and grip. Crafted in Japan, this saw blends legendary craftsmanship with a touch of Western-inspired design, making it a standout tool for any joinery collection.
